ANTES DE NACER
Chile
Antes de Nacer is a Chilean band composed of Leo Bascur (vocals, guitars) and Nico Errázuriz (keyboards, synths, loops, backup vocals), born in Santiago and Antofagasta, respectively. Their music combines funk, soul, pop, rock and electronic, in a particular mixture of genres crossed by lyrics that speak of human situations with abstract and dream-like details.

GREAT MEN WITH NO FEAR
Belgium
Behind Great Men With No Fear, there is a French songwriter, Frederic Laval. Last year, the singer and guitarist took on the challenge of making his first album, alone, in his home studio. Thus appeared in early January 2020 “Old Loved Ones”, a collection of nine songs addressing themes such as the passage of time, illness, injustice, but also fear. This fear that the artist does not hesitate to highlight even in his pseudonym. In order to best support his texts, the guitar is raw, mainly acoustic, and the voice rather frontal. It is through these two elements that the songs are built, before being sublimated by different layers of arrangements.
Regarding his creative process, the composer from Bordeaux says he is inspired by Bon Iver, Sufjan Stevens or Angelo De Augustine … Influences mainly from across the Atlantic; which undoubtedly led him to collaborate with the American Heather Hammers on the song “Between the Relief and the Pain”. It is now on stage that the artist intends to defend his project and extend the experience.

ZKELETONZ
United Kingdom
Zkeletonz from London and Coventry in the UK have been described by Louder Than War as “danceable, poppy, with a very seductive groove.” The band’s new end-of-the-world themed ‘Apocalypse Wow’ EP is entirely self-written, recorded, and produced. Zkeletonz have connected to huge audiences thanks to supporting from BBC 6music, BBC Introducing, Channel 4 Sunday Brunch, and Radio X! Their unique electro and disco-fuelled sound is “very funky, like Jamiroquai” (BBC Coventry & Warwickshire breakfast show), one that “fans of MGMT, LCD Soundsystem & Scissor Sisters will love” (Richer Unsigned & Q Magazine). It has hit playlists and taste-making platforms worldwide, for example, in-store radio curations for H&M, Boots, and Asda, and Hype Machine blogs like Wolf In A Suit, PopMuzik.SE, IndieIsNotAGenre, and ParaPOP. The trio has played over 100 gigs including headline sets for BBC 6music at Camden’s Latin Groove Bar and for Vice at London’s Old Blue Last and Sebright Arms. They were also recently selected as Wilton’s Music Hall: Emerging Artists by a panel of judges including The Feeling, DJ Yoda, and the English National Opera.

SHALU CHISENGA
Germany
Shalu Chisenga is a Zambian singer/songwriter and live artist. In his lyrics, he talks about inspiration and love, but also equality, societal problems, and saying goodbye. By fusing traditional and modern elements as well as different languages (English and Nyanja) and music genres, Shalu wants to inspire young people and connect cultures – in his words “My heart is a part of the galaxy and my art is to show you what you can be – Can’t you see”. His emotive and powerful voice takes you through the full spectrum of emotion and the hopeful and rhythmic sounds of his acoustic guitar invite you to dream and dance the night away. The combination of diverse music genres such as Afrobeats, (Afro)Folk, Soul, Blues, Rap, and Hip-Hop showcase Shalu as the best example of the modern face and the diversity of the African continent.

NON TALKERS
Portugal
The music of the Non Talkers breathes pop, peppered with folk melodies. We can tell without a doubt that it’s going to be good. Their debut EP “Pendulum of time” includes simple songs. A blend of voices backed by acoustic guitars, it’s like an invitation to a world of wonders. It promises a special record which it’s a pleasure to listen to. A record which depends largely on acoustics and on the contrasting male and female voices, Marco Brantner from Portugal and Evita Brantner from Belgium, a couple who are the heart of the band. They’re relaxing themes that get into our inner selves and grab our soul. A promising beginning, called Non Talkers, for someone for whom music has already been a way of life for many years.

LINDSAY CLARK
United States
Lindsay Clark finds a balance between traditional and English folk, country, and her own version of experimental folk that seems to come from her soul. Exquisite and pitch-perfect, her music speaks of quiet revelation, with a background of (usually her own) multi-tracked vocal arrangements. With influences ranging from the Beach Boys, Elizabeth Cotton, Joni Mitchell, Appalachian folk, her classical upbringing, and her father’s record collection, she blends many worlds into a uniquely warm sound. She has carved out a vibrant place as an artist with a penchant for poetry, rich harmony, and a style of self-taught fingerpicking influenced by Nick Drake, John Fahey, and others.
Originally from the small gold rush town of Nevada City, CA, she now resides in Portland, OR. Her sound has been described as “folk with angelic vocals washing over smooth edges” (1859 Magazine). She has shared the stage with musicians such as Alela Diane, Nat Baldwin (Dirty Projectors), Ryan Francesconi (Joanna Newsom), Laura Gibson, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. Her most recent effort was engineered and co-produced this year with Jeremy Harris (Vetiver/Devendra Banhart), with additional work from Portland’s own. “Crystalline” was released in fall 2018 via Oscarson (Germany).

Brazil
Lienne is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, she mixes samba carioca influence with other northeast Brazilian rhythms, where her parents come from. She released her first album, Porta-Chuva, in 2018, available on all digital platforms. She is also about to release two singles on the platforms over the next few months. She was featured on some of the biggest stages of Rio de Janeiro: Circo Voador (while singing with Brasil de Cara Orchestra); Fundição Progresso (with Enquanto Corria o Bloco) and as DJ Mam invitee to show a few authors songs at the Copacabana new year’s eve 2020.

JOHNNIE CARWASH
France
The trio guitar/bass/drums, formed in the summer of 2018, “Johnnie Carwash” was inspired by the pop freshness of Frankie Cosmos, the self-destructive aggressiveness of FIDLAR and the messy garage in which they rehearse. Their pieces, short and chiseled, oscillate between frontal punk and slows on edge. A little lightness, a lot of fun. In short, this group of friends could be called the drummer for Green Day: “Tré Cool”.
